Brexit Statement

The IMSISS Consortium wishes to respond to queries about the future of the programme and the University of Glasgow’s participation in the programme in light of Brexit.

We would like to assure students and applicants that their current or future participation in IMSISS will not be impacted by Brexit. The programme will continue to run until the end of its current funding period in 2025 and we anticipate that it will continue beyond then. We have 4 scholarship competitions between 2020 and 2023 and applicants interested in a fee-paying position have an extended application period

As a UK based institution, the University of Glasgow will fully participate in Erasmus+ until further notice. It is possible for a non-EU country to participate in Erasmus+ as a programme country and we hope that this will be the case for the UK post-Brexit. Should the UK leave the Erasmus+ scheme it will continue to participate in IMSISS as a partner country and the degree programme will continue to operate, albeit with some limitation on the choice of work-based placement location for scholarship students from partner countries.

If you are participating in, or about to participate in, the European Union’s Erasmus+ scheme, you will continue to be eligible for Erasmus grants. This will continue as normal until further notice.

If you are a national of an EU or EEA country, or Switzerland, you do not require a visa to study in the UK. You should travel to the UK using your EU/EEA/Swiss passport or national ID card and there will be no restriction on studying. Your immigration status as an EU national has not changed and will continue to apply as normal. This will remain the case until further notice.

We will keep all students and applicants up to date with information as it becomes available.

In the meantime applications for a place on the IMSISS programme for 2020-2022 remain open and we encourage individuals to apply as normal.
